I actually started journaling my journey in February, 2013. I typed this up on a private journal that is offered on one of the nady websites that I frequent. I've also made lists and emailed them to myself then placed in a weight loss folder in my inbox. To make everything more organized and accessible I am starting a blog in October, 2013. Stay with me...this is about as complicated as it will get. Below is my first email-journal entry from February 19, 2013:

Current Specs and Why I've Chosen to get Barbaric Surgery in 2013:
I'm about 5"3 and my BMI is around 49. In order for me to be "healthy" I'd have to lose between 140-165 lbs. As great and positive and persistent and smart as I am that is a tall order for anyone to fill. At this point I think WLS is kinda my only option for long term and successful weight loss. So I have decided I want to get the RNY done and after that I'm stuck and don't know what to do. I am writing down everything that's floating around in my brain right now. ( I'm a chronic note taker & list maker)
Things I have done:
*Went through about 3 months of Metabolic Research Center Diet plans. --lots of chicken breasts and pills and $600+ later only lost 12 lbs total. 12 lbs!!! (In my teens I had lots of success on this program. I lost 40 lbs my senior year of high school and my sister did great on it too. She lost 30-40 lbs. back in 2007.) This time around, my body was super resistant and I followed the plan exactly. This attempt was NOT doctor supervised. One of the "coaches" recommended that I get blood work and a check up done to see if there is any reason why I'm not losing weight like I should. Of course they tried to sell me some offer to do blood work for $119. I politely declined and made plans to see my doctor.
*Picked a new primary physician and went to him about my lack energy and inability to lose weight, even on the MRC plan
*Got blood work done that new primary doc ordered to rule out thyroid problems and diabetes (This took me 3 months to get done. I got a seasonal job for Christmas and couldn't take off. I was delirious all of Nov & Dec from working too much, like 70-80 hours/week! These 3-4 months really set me back a bit in my WLS plan. Grrrrrrr!)
*Made follow up appointment (and will keep this one) for March 7th
*Researched online about different types of WLS and the insurance process.
* Found my open enrollment for Medicaid plans (started 02/15/2012). YIKES!! Get on the ball, Karla.
Things TO DO:
*Tell my new primary DR that I want WLS and hope he's WLS friendly. If not find new doctor
*Get on the phone! Call bariatric surgery centers, bariatric surgeon's doctor offices, Medipass
*Continue to go to doctor monthly
